Pegasus Bridge
June 6, 1944: Major John Howard’s British glider troops struck German defenders just after midnight to seize the Caen Canal and Orne River bridges ahead of the D-Day landings.
Battlefield: Nine British infantry units face six German infantry units among villages, woods and two vital crossings. An impassable pond channels the approach to Pegasus Bridge.
Briefing & special rules
- Allies: Six Command cards; move first. British troops use regular infantry rules in this introductory scenario.
- Axis: Start with two Command cards. Draw two after each of your first two turns, bringing your hand to four; then draw normally.
- Objectives: Each bridge gives the Allies one medal only while occupied by an Allied unit. Moving off or losing that unit removes the medal.
Command challenge: As Allies, concentrate your attack before claiming a crossing. As Axis, use cover and preserve your infantry while your card hand grows.
Rules checked against the Days of Wonder original scenario booklet, scenario 1.
