Arnhem Bridge
September 1944: Operation Market Garden depended on forcing a crossing over the Lower Rhine at Arnhem. Allied defenders held the bridge approaches while German forces massed beyond the river.
Battlefield: The Lower Rhine cuts across the board, making Arnhem Bridge the key route forward. Allied artillery and sandbagged infantry cover the approach while much of the Axis force begins behind the river.
Briefing & tactical challenge
- Allies: Keep a Center card in reserve so your artillery can punish any bridge crossing. Preserve the infantry protected by sandbags.
- Axis: Build a coordinated attack before crossing. A piecemeal rush feeds units into the Allied kill zone.
- Objectives: There are no objective medals; victory comes from eliminating five enemy units.
Command challenge: Can the Axis open a second threat on a flank while assembling enough force to cross Arnhem Bridge?
Scenario details and tactical guidance are drawn from the General Howitzer Arnhem Bridge guide.
