UK Games Expo

UK Games Expo (UKGE) is the largest tabletop Games Convention in the UK, where all aspects of the tabletop gaming hobby are represented under one roof. The next UK Games Expo will be from Friday 29 May 2026 to Sunday 31 May 2026 at the NEC, Birmingham and Hilton Metropole Hotel.

While Memoir ’44 may not have a published official tournament schedule yet, UKGE traditionally hosts open play and competitive events across many board game categories.

Memoir at 2026 World Boardgaming Championships: July 30-August 1

Announcing the plans for this year’s Memoir tournament at the World Boardgaming Championships south of Pittsburgh, PA. Each year, we get over 40 contestants from around the country and sometimes beyond.

Memoir activities are expected to be Thursday-Saturday, July 30-August 1, with the tournament being Thursday evening and all day Friday … with 5 Overlord games scheduled, too. The tournament is Single Elimination, with a Mulligan round Thursday evening (if you lose, you can re-enter in the morning). You play 2-way matches.

Special prize: The winner of this tournament earns the right to compete in the online 2026 Champions Trophy tournament.

OVERLORDS are the source of some of the greatest Memoir stories! As usual, we’ll have five of them this year, ranging from basic to advanced. And here’s the expected schedule of Overlord games, with “TBA” as temporary placeholders for the specific scenarios. (Subject to change if something new and irresistible comes along.)

WBC is held in Seven Springs, Pennsylvania, which is south of Pittsburgh. The convention has more than 100 tournaments (also including Battle Cry, one or two additional C&C games). Full information is at www.boardgamers.org

Here are key dates in World War II:

September 1, 1939 – Germany invades Poland, triggering the start of World War II.
September 3, 1939 – Britain and France declare war on Germany, officially starting the conflict.
June 22, 1940 – France surrenders to Germany, leading to German occupation.
July 10, 1940 – Battle of Britain begins, marking a significant air campaign over the UK.
June 22, 1941 – Operation Barbarossa: Nazi Germany invades the Soviet Union.
December 7, 1941 – Attack on Pearl Harbor by Japan, bringing the US into the war.
June 4-7, 1942 – Battle of Midway, a turning point in the Pacific War in favor of the Allies.
August 23, 1942 – February 2, 1943 – Battle of Stalingrad, one of the war’s deadliest battles and a major turning point on the Eastern Front.
June 6, 1944 – D-Day (Operation Overlord): Allied forces land in Normandy, France.
May 8, 1945 – Victory in Europe (V-E Day): Germany surrenders, ending the war in Europe.
August 6 & 9, 1945 – Atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, forcing Japan toward surrender.
