I have to say that I am really enjoying the Pacific Front scenarios. The special abilities of the Japanese ( Seishin Kyoiku & Banzai War Cry mainly) work to build out a really powerful attack. If you are able to keep your units fully intact, then the ability to rush forward two hexes and make a Close Assault with a five dice roll is really powerful.
I know that the Marines, with their Gung Ho! ability can counter this a bit. ( In fact, the Tactics & Strategy Guide says that in the long run, the Marines actually gain the edge. )
But it still makes for some fun offensive options for the Japanese.
