Sword of Stalingrad
Quote from GeneralHowitzer on 2024-12-01, 00:09Wow! I just finished my first Sword of Stalingrad scenario, and it was fabulous!
It is long and complex; 17 VP's!
It is an urban warfare scenario, with towns, factories, barracks, train station, train tracks, and a number of other buildings. It has territorial objectives, as well as the usual VP's. It recreates history really nicely in terms of the Russians defending for their lives against a superior Axis force. It feels very much like urban warfare. And because it is 17 VP's long, there is plenty of time to work out a serious strategic plan and then attempt to execute it. I thoroughly enjoyed it; and not just because I won. If I had delayed on my objectives even one turn, my opponent would have won on the next turn. So it is evenly balanced, a great challenge, and a lot of fun.
It is part of the Battle Maps series that comes in the large white envelope. It uses Command Cards, and a LOT of pieces. You will need either two sets of the Base Game, or else some additional miniatures purchased and ready to go. But it is worth it!
